How to fix a water damaged phone ?

So you dropped your phone into the toilet, sink or pool. After a moment of panic, you need to save your mobile from becoming water damaged.

Here are the steps how to recover a phone that's been dropped into a water. Before you do anything, remove the phone from water as soon as possible.

What not to do :

  1. Do not turn it on if it was off or use it anyway.
  2. Do not press any buttons or keys.
  3. Do not shake or tilt the phone.
  4. Do not try to blow it. It could transfer the water into other internal parts
  5. Do not apply heat of anykind.

Steps to save your phone :

  1. Turn it off if it isn't already and keep it in an upright position.
  2. Remove the protecting case, memory card and sim cards.
  3. Open up the back and remove the battery. (This is not possible in certain models of HTC and Asus phones).
  4. Take a cloth or paper towel and gently dab over it. You should stop spreading of water into holes and other parts.
  5. Bury it in a zipped bag of uncooked rice. This may seem odd to you, rice is a great absorbent of liquid and is actually a common practice of drying smart phones and tablets. Believe me, it will work.
  6. After 18 hours or more, take out your phone and switch it on.
  7. If it is turned on, play some music to check speakers.
  8. If it is not turned on, try charging your phone.
  9. Still if it is not turned on, you have to dry it for some more time or replace your battery.
  10. If nothing works, contact any service centres. Good luck!

It can be disgusting to have the cable drop out a the slightest movement or to head endless pings from your computer telling you the cable disconnected. Rather than throw out a cable and get a new one, here’s a simple 5-min fix that can restore your cable back to new (or at least make it stay put). On most Micro USB cables there are a pair of metal tabs on one side. The problem is that over time these tabs can be flattened. When that happens the USB cable will be come loose unless the port is particularly tight. The way to fix this is to raise the tabs and then fold them over, making for a tighter and sturdier fit. The first thing we need to do is to raise the tabs. My friend used a precision flat screwdriver to lift the tabs as pictured below. You want to be careful doing this. While the tabs are meta...
